Refactory Pit Burner

PIT BURNERS

McPherson Systems Builds Durable, Heavy-Duty Refractory Pit Burners. Since 1985, We Have Built Air Curtain Burners That Are Meant to Last.

A power source, either electric motor or diesel power unit, drives a fan which in turn creates an air curtain by forcing air through a plenum and nozzle. This high velocity forced air travels across the top of the pit in which a fire has been started, creating an air curtain incinerator.

The air curtain traps smoke/small particles and recirculates them to enhance combustion and reduce smoke. This large volume of air accelerates combustion and provide high pit temperatures between 1800°F and 2500°F. Underfire air (available only on refractory air curtain burners) introduces air underneath air curtain to ensure complete combustion and to minimize opacity at start-up.

The refractory pit provides a safe combustion chamber for the air curtain destructor. Specially designed refractory panels prevent excess heat from escaping. Refractory pit burners are ideal for use in areas with high water tables and sandy soil conditions or where opacity must be kept to a minimum. Upper-chamber refractory panels act as a heat sink, allowing more retention time in the burner to more effectively control opacity and any sparks. Expanded metal top screen (optional) controls sparks or floating debris from leaving the burner.
